Too Much Happily Ever After
The Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climo and illustrated by Ruth Heller is an interesting book, but too predictable. The book starts off with a girl named Rhodopis who was Greek. She was kidnapped by pirates as a child and sold as a slave in Egypt. She was a very good dancer and when her master saw her dancing he ordered her a pair of custom-fit rosy gold slippers, but when a slipper gets stolen by a hawk(Horus, protector of the Pharaohs) and lands in the lap of the Pharaoh Amasis, Amasis promises to marry whoever owns the slipper. You can kind of predict what happens after that. There are many connections I have with this book, but the most memorable connection I have is that Rhodopis likes animals and my cousin likes animals. Honestly, this is what I think. If you liked the Disney version of Cinderella you will like this book, but if you are tired of the two-year-old happily ever after garbage don't read this book. -Luke
